‘Its words on a screen. Like squirming creatures with teeth.’
Alana Valentines new verbatim-based adaptation of The Taming of the Shrew is relocated to a contemporary teenage world where cyberbullying, sexting, online porn and rootrater sites are the norm of an Australian adolescence.

Grappling with Shakespeares apparent lack of squeamishness around the misogyny inherent in The Taming of the Shrew, Alanas new work gives voice to teenagers who are not afraid to use notoriety, scandal and betrayal to make their online life go viral. In our hyper-connected world, Tricky Girl engages young audiences, their parents and others who care about them, with searing and urgent relevance.
